Viruses don't exist if you use TPB correctly and there are moderators there who remove such torrents. As for ads, use the damn AdBlock.

ThePirateBay is a pirate bay, people are pirates and do whatever the fuck they want on here, so if you know what you're doing, you download from trusted people, scan downloaded files, read comments, etc., there is nothing that dangerous about it. Yes, there are fakes and yes there are corrupted files. That's what you get for downloading for free.
